- UMAC at the Canadian Reggae Music Awards 2009
- Date:
- Mar 20th 2009 - 12:00 am
- Information:
- The Membership Director of UMAC, The Urban Music Association of Canada, Dwayne Dixon, represented as a presenter at the 22nd Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards on the evening of Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Toronto.
Even with most of Canada’s music industry on the west coast for Sunday night’s Juno Awards ceremony, there still was a great turnout of supporters for the CRMA at the Doubletree Hilton.
The Canadian Reggae Music Awards, founded and produced by Winston Hewitt, was hosted by legendary Jamaican radio broadcaster Barry G, and Toronto radio personality Delroy G. The hosts kept the crowd informed, entertained, and gave performers, nominees, and award winners an experienced platform from which to celebrate their accomplishments in the Canadian reggae music industry.
Along with UMAC’s Dwayne Dixon, presenters included a variety of entertainers and respected figures from Canada’s Caribbean community.
The night’s performers, covering a range of reggae influenced gospel, jazz, and dancehall, included: Soul J, Jay Davis, Emanuel I, Cavel Rowe, Estiban Lindsay, Tonya P., Rich Kid, Tony Anthony, Jannett Scott, King Ujah, and Jay Douglas.
