(Toronto) -- UMAC, The Urban Music Association of Canada, is kicking off Black History Month with its first event of the year during Harbourfront Centre’s annual Kuumba celebrations. Urban X-Posure: SoWhatChuSayin? takes place at The Harbourfront Centre on February 13th, 2010, and is a multi-platform event focused on Hip Hop and Spoken Word being actively used as art forms for social change. It’s a day where consciousness in rap music and spoken word gets rewarded - literally!!!

The response to the call for submissions was overwhelming, allowing for an impressive and inspiring lineup of performers. The auditions at Harlem Restaurant gave spectators just a taste of the talent and flair for wordplay these artists have...

UX: SoWhatChuSayin? will be comprised of an artist showcase / contest, awarding the most talented conscious wordsmiths and raptivist rhymers who can perform the best positive lyrical expressions with swag. Lending to the excitement is a cash prize, which will be divided between the top 3 finalists. Toronto Argonauts former coach and football legend, Michael “Pinball” Clemons and his foundation have also pledged a donation towards the cash prize. DJ Linx and Seven:30 from CKLN 88.1FM’s Mixtape Massacre will be in attendance, providing the musical vibe for the event.
